Obituary for Richard E. Harris

Richard E.Harris Sr., 76, of Kentland, Ind. formerly of DeMott and Merrillville, died on March 21.
He is survived by two sons, Richard (Maxine) Harris Jr. of Kentland, Ind., Stephen C. (Elizabeth Johnson) Harris of Gainsville, Fl.; three daughters, Deborah E. Harris of Crown Point, Lydia (Michael) Griffith of DeMotte, Bridget A. (Michael) Power of Cumberland, Ma.; 13 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; special friend, Margie Rouse of Kentland; one brother, Howard H. Harris of Pierceton, Ind.; two sisters Barbara Jackson and Helene Leichty both of Hobart.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Maxine, son James, sister, Beulah Averitt and his parents.

Mr. Harris worked at Dixie Dairy Company in Gary for over 25 years. He was an employee of the Indiana Sherriffs Association and baliff for Newton County Circuit Court. Richard was an army veteran of WWll. He was a member of Hazelton Country Club in Brook, Ind.

Funeral services were held at Geisen Funeral Home with Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial was at Calumet park Cemetery in Merrillville.
