Harvey E. Parkhurst, 87, of Valparaiso, formerly of Portage, passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2001. Harvey was a member of Local 8, Painter's Union. He was an original member of the Hobart Band 1928 - 1933. He was a bingo caller for 14 years at Oak Tree Village in Portage.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Parkhurst; one grandson, Richard Keith Parkhurst; two sisters and three brothers. Survivors: one son, Richard (Thelma) Parkhurst of Hebron, three grandchildren, Ruth Parkhurst of Hammond, Patti (Stan) Halajcsik of Schererville and Donna (Wayne) Lorek of Troy, Ohio; five great-grandchildren, Jill (Jason) Boykin, Jennifer (Jason) Walch, Tim, Ann and Emily Lorek; one great-great- grandson, Bryan Boykin.

Funeral arrangements are being completed at Burns Funeral Home (Hobart), corner of Rt. 51 and 7th Street. 219-942-1117.
