Erwait "Shorty" Major, 82, of Nappanee, IN. passed away Sunday, January 19, 1997, 9:45 a.m. at Elkhart General Hospital. Born March 10, 1914 in Hobart, IN. to Emil and Minnie Sonnatag Major. Lived in Nappanee since 1992 moving here from DeMotte, IN. Married Lorraine Berrier on April 5, 1941 in Hobart, IN.

Graduate of Hobart High School; retired from Forrest River Lodge in Hebron, IN and DeMotte Liquors, DeMotte, IN; member of St.Paul's Lutheran Church in Bremen and former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hobart, IN.

Survivors include wife Lorraine Major; sons, Eugene (Diana) Major of Portage, IN and Dale (Debra) Major of Las Vegas, NV.; daughters, Jill (James) Norwick of Clearwater, FL. and Kris (Ray) Clemans of Nappanee, IN.; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Preceded in death by one brother, Paul Major.

Body will lay in state at Thompson & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, Indiana on Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. and two hours prior to services at church on Thursday. Funeral services Thursday, January 23, 1997, 2 P.M. (EST) at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hobart, IN. Burial in Evergreen Park Cemetery, Hobart, IN. Memorials to Church Missions at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.219-773-3173.
