George Schnabel - Class Of 1932

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES:

George E. Schnabel, 86, a lifetime Hobart resident, passed away on Monday, November 8, 1999.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hobart. A retired superintendent of Building & Grounds for the Hobart Public School System with 27 years of service. He owned his own school bus, Bus #2, and drove for the Hobart School System. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army. He worked for the Hobart Lumber Company at one time. He farmed the area on 61st Ave. for many years and was a member of the Lake County Agricultural Society.

Survived by wife, Jeanette "Babe" Schnabel; two sons, William (Tess) Schnabel and Scott (Sandra) Schnabel, and daughter, Suzanne (Lloyd) Emig, all of Hobart; two sisters, Jessie (Robert) Ramsay of Hobart and Bette (Ed) Kis of Bradenton, FL; five grandchildren: Jason (Sarah) Schnabel, Will Schnabel, Carri Massau, and Christoper and Matthew Schnabel.

Funeral services Thursday, November 11, 1999 at 10 a.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, Indiana, with Pastor Gary Nagy officiating. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends may call at the Burns Funeral Home, Hobart, (corner of Rt 51 and 7th Street) on Wednesday, 1 to 9 p.m. Mr. Schnabel will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Please omit flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
