Timothy “Tim” Gray, age 53 of Lafayette, IN, passed away at 10:59 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 in the Ascension St. Vincent Hospital E.R. in Williamsport, IN. He was the owner of Grasshoppers Lawncare and tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident, doing what he loves most, riding his motorcycle on the back country roads when a deer hit him.  

Tim was born on November 25, 1967 in Hobart, IN. He was the son of Robert O. and Minnie (David) Gray. Tim was a 1985 graduate of Hobart High School. He later attended the Purdue University of Agriculture. Tim lived in Hobart, Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Evansville. He had resided in Lafayette, IN for the past 26 years. Tim married Eileen Friel in Chicago, IL and she preceded him in death.

Tim owned and operated Grasshoppers Lawncare in Lafayette. Tim had a huge heart, never knew a stranger, was a great story-teller, the coolest uncle, a “dad” to many, and big brother to the rest of us. His love for music, photography, arts was evident in his life.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing pool and darts. Relationships were the most important part of his life. He always had time for you, Tim’s loving heart never judged and saw the best in everyone, he put us all at ease. Tim’s saying “You rock your hot mess” will always be remembered.

Surviving are, Siblings, Mark Gray (Liguya) of Tulsa, OK, Judy Gray of Indianapolis, IN, Janice Gray-Martin (Tim) of Fleming Island, FL, Diane Gray of Indianapolis, IN, Debbie Gray, and Susan Gray; Nieces and nephews, Jackie True, Kathleen VanderSpeck, Elizabeth Gray, Patricia Gray, Brian Gray, Joel Martin, Tyler Martin, Cindy Vanderbilt, Samantha Vanderbilt, Justin Wynette, and Mason Martin.

Tim was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen; parents; and brother, Bobby Gray.
