Betsy Lemon, 70, passed away Monday, December 16, 2013 under the care of Mercy Hospice with her loving family by her side.

Betsy was born March 13, 1943 in Bryants Store, Kentucky, the daughter of Manford and Lois (Carter) Collett.

She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, baking, writing poetry, attending flea markets and especially spending time with her family.

Betsy is survived by her daughters, Karen (Brian) Kelso and Susan (Dwane) Peterson; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Erin, Emily, Bradley, Daniel, Chelsea and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Cailee, Jacob and Bella; brother, Jim (Sharon) Legere; mother-in-law, Marjorie Lemon; and aunt, Mary Jo Logan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, John "Terry" Lemon; her parents; son, Michael; and brother, Don.

There will be a celebration of Betsy's life held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines followed by a 2:00 p.m. burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
