OBITUARY FROM ELIAS FUNERAL HOME (STREATOR, IL) WEBSITE:

Doris V. Koch, 88, of Streator died Friday December 26, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.

Funeral services for Doris V. Koch will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday December 29, 2008 at the Elias Funeral Home, Streator. Pastor Richard A. Jumper of the Flanagan and Long Point Christian Churches will officiate and also conduct graveside services at the Ancona Cemetery in Ancona, IL. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Kaminke, Kyle Kimpling, James Dimond, Sam Kimpling, Ron Minnaert, and great nephew Curtis Carby. Visitation for Doris V. Koch will be Sunday December 28, 2008 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Elias Funeral Home.

Born September 28, 1920 she was the daughter of Walter and Jenny (Nickerson) Brown She married Robert Koch, 1945, he died in 1987. She is survived by one sister Marna Heddon of Huntsville AL, and nieces Mary Beth Carby (Jim Dimond) Streator, Lyn Lawrence of Orlando, FL, Kitty Warford of Helena MT, and Terry Hamann (Alan Perlstein) of WI, one nephew Jim (Sandra) Forbes, of TN, and several grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Nellie Brown of Streator, and a brother in infancy. Also preceding her in death was her niece Sandra Mathis of Arizona.

She graduated from Long Point High School, and graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors Degree in Education and Library Science. She was a High School English Teacher in area Schools, and in Hobart, IN. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a former member of the Streator Country Club, and was a active Duplicate Bridge Player. She was a member of the Long Point Christian Church. She loved fishing in Canada, her dogs, playing Bridge, the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs.
