Barbara Jean Mayersky, of Crown Point, IN, passed away peacefully in her home on July 2, 2023 at the age of 85.
Barbara was born on January 25, 1938, to Fred and Sophie Mijdak, in Gary, IN.

She is a graduate of Hobart High School.

Barbara worked several jobs throughout the years including L.S. Ayers and Merrillville Conservancy District. She and her husband Edward raised their three boys in the Turkey Creek subdivision of Merrillville, where they lived for many years, before moving to Crown Point. Barbara was a very kind and humble person that loved her family very much. She found great joy in celebrating all things with her family, from many sports events to pierogi making and found great pleasure in her girls’ trips to Las Vegas and lunches with her special group of friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Sophie Mijdak and father Fred Mijdak, stepmother Helen Mijdak, mother and father-in-law Edward Mayersky Sr. and Helen Mayersky, brother-in-law Edward Sperka and niece Vicki Sperka.

She is survived by her husband Edward, three sons Ron (Peggy) Mayersky, Randy Mayersky and Rick (Jane) Mayersky. Barbara is also survived by her sisters Patty Sperka and Dottie Morrison, her 5 grandchildren, Nolan, Ronnie, Kayla, Jake and Bret, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN on Thursday July 6, 2023 from 4 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. www.burnsfuneral.com
