When Edith May Ashley was born on 5 March 1917, in Winchester, White River Township, Randolph, Indiana, United States, her father, Alva Sherman Ashley, was 26 and her mother, Emma Bell Weimer, was 25.

She married Eugene Willis Wise on 28 May 1938, in Elkhart, Indiana, United States. She lived in Muncie, Center Township, Delaware, Indiana, United States in 1940.

She died on 18 February 1979, in Hobart, Ross Township, Lake, Indiana, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Fountain Park Cemetery, Winchester, White River Township, Randolph, Indiana, United States.
