Theodore "Saturday" A. Sobotka, 66, of 815 15th Ave. West, Ashland, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, with his daughter by his side.

Ted was born Nov. 28, 1932, in Ashland, the son of Julius and Mary (Cwikowski) Sobotka. He was a U.S. Marine Korean War veteran. He married Phillis E. Berthiaume in Ashland. After high school graduation, Ted attended Northland College in Ashland for four years and then received his master's degree in science from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. He then taught science at Hobart, Ind., for over 20 years, moving back to Ashland, where he was a substitute teacher in the Ashland school system up until the time of his death.

Ted is survived by his daughter, Tassy Ann Sobotka, Wausau; one brother, Raymond J. Sobotka, Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters, Anna Nye, Ashland; Lorraine (Eugene) Madderom, Waterford, and Rita Leren, Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David James; two brothers, Felix and Jerome; and one sister, Lucille Roy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday from Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Ashland. Fr. Conan Mitchell, O.F.M. will celebrate the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Ashland, where there will be Military Honors by the United Chequamegon Area Veterans.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church on Friday.
Arrangements are by the Schafer-Mountain Funeral Home, Ashland.
