Daniel "Danny" Harkins - Class Of 1968

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Daniel Paul Harkins, age 74, of Hobart, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born on February 5, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Thelma Harkins.

Danny worked many years at US Cable as a Tech Operations Manager and retired from U.S. Steel as an Expanded Motor Inspector after more than 30 years of service. He was known for his intelligence and natural knack for learning skills, making him a jack of all trades, which he generously shared by helping others in need.

Over the years, Danny found great joy in spending time with his family, as well as in playing games and sports. His playful nature shone through in his jokes, riddles, and teasing, always bringing laughter to those around him. A fierce competitor with unshakable mental toughness, he never let his drive to win turn him into a sore loser or poor sport.

His children will remember him as a good provider for his family. They also cherished his warm hospitality and the welcoming home he created, where their childhood friends made lasting memories. Throughout the years, Danny kindly took in many family members and friends in need of a place to stay. He will be deeply missed and loved by many.

He is survived by his son, Chad (Wila Obena) Harkins and daughter, Nikki (Brian) Fattore; grandchildren, Luke (Emily) Fattore, Zack (Bianca Serafica) Fattore, Caleb (Briley) Harkins, Mason Harkins; brother, John (Norma) Harkins; sister, Carol (Noel) Cruz; girlfriend, Christine Jones; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Harkins; parents, George and Thelma Harkins; and siblings, Patricia Stewart, Gary Harkins, and Glenn Harkins.

Per Danny’s wishes, there will be no services. Cremation entrusted to Rees Funeral Home.
