Lynda S. Tuzinski
Age 75, of Portage passed away Wednesday, February 5,2025 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. She was born on October 5, 1949, in Athens, Alabama, the daughter of the late Thomas and Retha (nee Jackson) Claxton. She married Michael Tuzinski in Hobart on July 14, 1967, and enjoyed 57 loving years together. She was a retired from Methodist Hospital where she worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Warren and Dr. Salle. She enjoyed 60’s music and in her youth, she enjoyed spending time at the beach. She found joy in taking care of her grandchildren, helping others and loving her family, while also savoring phone conversations with her sister. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Portage, watching services online when she could not attend. Lynda and her husband selflessly opened their home to homeless children, often proving long-term stays. She shared a deep affection with her nieces and nephews. Even though she endured heartache in her life, she remained devoted to others.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Tuzinski; son, Casey (Tammy) Tuzinski; two grandchildren, Desmond and Verona Tuzinski; three siblings, Joann Sink, Bernie Claxton and Patsy (Mike) Feltman; brother in law, Ed, Ted, and Steve Tuzinski; sister in law, Anna Kozrowski; nieces, Beth (Chet) Turner and Jill (Justin) Smith; numerous other nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jason Tuzinski, and her parents.
A funeral service will be held for Lynda on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 11:00 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 10:00 am until the time of service also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. Cremation to follow services.
