OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:
WILLIAM DEAN KAVARIE, SR., age 75, of Valparaiso, formerly a longtime Hobart resident, passed away March 18, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 3, 1949 to the late William and Cecelia (Badkey) Kavarie. William graduated from Hobart High School and married the love of his life, Shirley Koritko a few years later. William was an extremely hard worker and committed to his position of foreman for the City of Hobart Street Department. After retirement, he continued to work as grounds maintenance for the School City of Hobart for 15 years. William was a good provider and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Shirley Kavarie; 2 children, Kelly Smith and William D. (Jennifer) Kavarie, Jr.; 3 grandchildren, Katelynn (Frank Brown) Kavarie, Tyler Kavarie and Logan Kavarie; great grandchild, Joseph Brown; sister, Jeanine (Thomas) Bush; 2 brothers-in-law, Steven Koritko and Andrew (Arlene) Koritko; sister-in-law, Deborah (Timothy) Gleason; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other dear friends and family.
William was also preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Kavarie.
In lieu of flowers donations in William's memory can be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church 6240 Grand Blvd, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
There will be a visitation for William on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd. Cremation will take place following the services.
