Edward "Jack" Klug - Class Of 1949

Edward “Jack” Klug, age 94 of Hobart passed away July 22, 2025. He was born on September 9, 1930, in Hammond, Indiana to the late Joseph and Lenora Klug. Jack graduated from Hobart High School in the late 40’s where he was quarterback for the football team. He was a lifelong fan of the Hobart Brickies and Notre Dame Football. He proudly served in the Navy as the Master of Arms on the USS Princeton during the Korean War. He was an animal lover and enjoyed flying his plane in his free time. Jack was the owner and operator of Crown Hill Cemetery and Cressmore Trailer Park. His main reason for owning the park and the cemetery was to help others in need. He will always be remembered for his benevolent nature.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly (Joe) Klug-Rutkowski of Hobart; son, Rusty Ammerman of Hobart; grandchildren, Jolene and Adelle Rutkowski, Michael (Megan) Felder, Samantha Bates; and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lenora Klug; brother, Jospeh J. Klug; sisters, Ethelyn Macleod, Evelyn Etherton, and Willetta Kennedy. Memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to the Hobart Humane Society, PO Box 108 Hobart, IN 46342.

Visitation for Jack will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A funeral service will take place Friday, August 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery in Hobart. For more information, please call (219) 942-2109.
