Connie Mattix, 91, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on December 25, 1933, Connie was a gift to everyone who knew her. She grew up in Tipton, Indiana, and graduated from Tipton High School before earning her degree from Ball State University. Connie dedicated her career to teaching elementary school in Hobart where she inspired generations of students with her patience, creativity, and genuine care. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church. Connie had a strong sense of community and volunteered her time with Tri Kappa and the hospital guild at St. Mary Medical Center. Her impact as an educator and mentor will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Ruby Day; her sister, Judy Ripberger; and her beloved husband, Stewart Mattix, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rick Mattix (Margaret), Lori Lencheck (Chuck), and Beth Wells (Scott); ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren — all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of Connie’s amazing friends who supported her over the years. She cherished your friendship.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life at a visitation on Saturday, November 22, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana.
