Elizabeth was born April 19, 1941 to Donals and Donna Mclachlan in Elkhart, Indiana. The first of five children, she was raised on a farm, where her father raised and trained horses. Her mother was a traditional homemaker. Growing up, she got the best of both worlds, learning hard work from her father, and the domestic qualities of her mother. She attended public schools In Hobart, Indiana before moving to Portage for her senior year and graduating there.

She raised two children with her husband of 47 years, Darrell W. Jenson. Together, they worked as a maintenance/management team for 15 years in large apartment complexes. Elizabeth then took on a directors' position in low income housing until her retirement.
Elizabeth is survived by her two children, Hugh W. Stewart, his wife Debbie and Doris L. Johnson. She is also survived by four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Patty and Carolyn.
