In Memory

Charles "Chuck" Pilbean - Class Of 1966

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE, JULY 11, 2012:

Charles D. Pilbean Sr. Age 64, of Ridgeville, South Carolina formerly of Hobart, passed away July 5, 2012 after a long, happy and fulfilling life. Born in Coulterville, Illinois, Mr. Pilbean was raised and raised his own family in Hobart, Indiana. After attending Hobart High School, “Harley Charlie”, as he came to be known, enliste din the U.S Air Force and deployed to combat duty, he returned home to his loving wife and growing family. During Mr. Pilbean’s career and retirement from Bethlehem Steel, his focus was raising his sons. To say he was an outdoors man would be an understatement. Through his life lessons, we were taught to travel, hunt, fish, and camp and respect others. His morals and values guided us into adulthood. For that we all say “Thank you, Dad”. A proud and respectful war veteran, Charlie became a lifetime member of disabled American Veterans, the VFW and The American Legion, where he rose to the rank of Second in command at N. Judson, Indiana, post. Charlie never quit fighting or helping. He was and will always be a warrior his country will miss! Through it all, Harley Charlie had a passion for motorcycles. The friends and memories brought to him because of that passion are among his most cherished.

Harley Charlie Pilbean is survived by his sons; Brian (Sherry) and Mike Pilbean, mother Wanda Granzow, brother, Mike, grandchildren; Brian and Heather, extended family and many lifelong friends mutually considered family. Mr. Pilbean was preceded in death by his sons Charles D. Pilbean Jr. and Eric Jason Pilbean, and his father; Fred Eugene Pilbean.
