OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE WEBSITE, DECEMBER 28, 2009:

Carol A. Bennett (nee Fiester), age 63, of Hobart, passed away on December 26, 2009, at Select Specialty Hospital in Hammond, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Carl Fiester, also of Hobart. She is survived by her loving son, Tim Bennett, as well as many loving relatives and friends.

Carol was a graduate of Indiana University School of Journalism and had been a reporter for the Post Tribune previous to her 29-year tenure as Public Information Officer with the Merrillville Community School Corporation.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 6 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart. Services will terminate at the funeral home with cremation to follow at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory. Friends and relatives may visit with the family at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. (time of services). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family for a special intention.
