Frank Broda - Class Of 1954

Frank J. Broda, age 75 of Valparaiso and formerly of Hobart passed away February 25, 2011. He graduated from Hobart High School, Class of "54, served in the US Navy aboard the USS Antares and was a member of American Legion Post 454. Frank retired from Sears as an automotive mechanic where he received special top achievement awards. He loved restoring antique autos and tending to his horses. He was the New Chicago Volunteer Fire Chief for many years. He was preceded in death by his daughter Monica Fraher.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Phyllis (nee Gibson) Broda of Valparaiso; son Mark (Kathy) Broda and daughter Michele Broda (Greg Bowman) of Hobart; 4 grandchildren Sabrina Broda, Kyle Fraher, Chad Blankman and Brandy Peterson; and 4 great-grandchildren; special niece Karla (Dennis) Thomason and special nephew Robert (Terry) Dolby both of South Haven and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Friday, March 4, 2011 at 7 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th St., Hobart. Rev. Lourdu Pasala officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2 p.m. until time of service at Burns Funeral Home (Hobart) www.burnsfuneral.com.
