Jimmie Lee Wherry, age 52 of Hobart was promoted to glory on May 20, 2008.

He was a longtime Hobart resident and a member of the Salvation Army Gary/Merrillville Corps and has recently been attending the South Haven Corps. He was formerly employed at Midwest Products and the Hobart YMCA. He enjoyed painting, working in the yard, gardening, flowers, teaching kids, and music.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Theresa of Hobart, IN; 2 daughters, Amber (Mike) Ratino of Porter, IN; Stefanie Wherry of Hobart, IN; 2 brothers, Eugene (Joan Kelper) Wherry, Johnnie (Susan) Wherry, 3 sisters, Dorothy (Jon) Worthington, Patricia (Wayne) Bellar, Becky (Roger) Harrison; and 3 grandchildren, Haylee, Colin, and Tori Ratino; 1 brother-in-law, Wesley Roe; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Flossie Wherry, and 1 sister, Martha Roe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jimmie's honor may be made to the family. Funeral services are Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.
