Thomas Joseph Hopkins - Class Of 1956

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JUNE 30, 2012:

Hopkins, Thomas J. Age 74, of Honduras, Central America (previously Hobart, IN) passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.

Tom is survived by his wife Tesla and children, Jose (Ronda) of Whitehouse, TN, Angela (Tom) of Valparaiso, IN and Jaime "Jimmy" of Nashville, TN, 5 grandchildren Ryan, Brandon, Christian, Emma and Molly, sisters, Mary Jo Hopkins and Sarah "Sally" Perry and brothers, Harry (Anabel) and Richard (Diana). He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Carl Hopkins, son Carlos and brother James.

Tom went to Hobart High School and graduated in the class of 1956 and had both a Bachelors & Masters degree from Indiana University NW. He served in the Peace Corps in Honduras, Central America where he met and married the love of his life, his wife Tesla. After the Peace Corps, he returned to Hobart where he lived and raised his family while working at US Steel for 35+ years. After retiring from USS, he and Tesla returned to Honduras where he built and ran the hotel of his dreams Villa Choncha Mar in San Lorenzo, Honduras. Tom will be remembered as a hard worker, loving father, husband and brother.

He was cremated and interred in Honduras.
