OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, AUGUST 16, 2006:

Doris T. Hockett, age 71 years, of Urbana, IN, formerly of Wheatfield, IN passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at VNA Hospice, Valparaiso, IN. She was born on August 16, 1934 in Hobart, IN. to Iola (Cole) and Joseph Tarchala, both deceased. Doris was a graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1951. On December 18, 1953 she married Roy E. Hockett, who survives. She was the Bank Manager for the former State Bank of Rensselaer, Wheatfield, IN. for 20 years. Doris was a member of the Wheatfield American Legion Aux., member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Wheatfield and past member of DeMotte Rotary Club.

Doris is survived by her loving husband, Roy E. Hockett, of Urbana, IN; Step-son, Lee Hockett, of Orlando, FL; 2 Daughters, Debra (Phill) Kuhns, of Wheatfield, IN and Sharon (John) Shanahan, of Valparaiso, IN; Son, Tim (Yvonne) Hockett, of Patriot, IN; Brother, Kenneth (Sue) Tarchala, of Roselawn, IN; Sister, Arlene (Lee) Schuler, of Angola, IN; 14 grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and 1 step-son, Michael Hockett.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 P. M. to 8:00 PM on Thursday August 17, 2006 at Jackson Funeral Service, 352 E. South St., Wheatfield, IN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 18, 2006 at Jackson Funeral Service, Wheatfield, with Pastor Carl Fitchett officiating. Interment will follow at the Wheatfield Cemetery.
