OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, JUNE 25, 2010
Norman Stangebye, age 92 passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Norman was a life long Hobart resident, a Hobart High School Graduate and a US Army Veteran of WW II serving with 166 General Hospital at Lemans France during The Battle of the Bulge. Norman was a member of Sons of Norway, Gibson Woods Bonsai Club and was a Master Gardener of Lake County. Norman enjoyed square dancing and was involved with Boy Scouts of America and was a Junior Assistant Scout Master. Norman was a faithful member of Augustana Lutheran Church and a member of the choir. Norman will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Norman is survived by his sons; Vernon Stangebye of Chicago, IL and Dr. Ronald F. (Susan) Stangebye of Niles, MI, daughters; Sonja (Larry) Anderson of Frost, MN, Cynthia Razo of Portage, IN and Lynaya Stangebye of Indianapolis, IN, Grandchildren; Zachary, Hanna, Hailey and Joel Stangebye, Douglas (Mimi), Bruce and Charles Riffle, Vincent A. Razo, Jacob (Heather) Anderson and Ingrid (Dean) Reuter, and Great Grandchildren Erik, Brody, Benjamin, and Hadley Anderson, Torin and Beonca Reuter, Bella, Noah, and Olivia Riffle. Norman was preceded in death by his loving wife Marjorie, parents Harold and Olga Stangebye, brother, Albert Stangebye and sisters Sylvia Underwood and Janet Munch and son-in-law Gilbert Razo Sr.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the Augustana Lutheran Foundation. Funeral Service Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street Hobart, IN with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home 600 W.
