Herbert Gregg (Herbie) Hamilton - Class Of 1947

OBITUARY FROM THE POST-TRIBUNE, OCTOBER 30, 2010

Age 82, a longtime resident of Hobart passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010. He was born on June 18, 1928 in Gary, Indiana the son of Cecil and Alice Hamilton. Herb was a Hobart High School graduate. Herb proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Herb was married to Ruth Catherine "Rikki" Plesset. Herb worked as a carpenter for Carpenter's Union Local # 1005 and he was the owner of Hamilton Cabinets. Herb was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 5365. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to all.

Herb is survived by his loving family, daughter, Lisa (Fred) Somers, Hobart; sons, Timothy (Pam) Hamilton, Troy, MO, Scott Hamilton, Anchorage, AK, Corey (Elaine) Hamilton, Springboro, OH, Mark (Donna) Hamilton, Pleasanton CA, and Thomas (Sara) Hamilton, Pigeon Forge, TN; grandchildren, Jamie, Kelly, Sean, Brendan, A.J., T.J., Taylor, Presley, Amanda, and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Britny, Ryan, and Adam; brothers, Cecil "Bud" Hamilton, Charles (Avis) Hamilton, and Arthur (Juanita) Hamilton; and other loving family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth "Rikki" Hamilton; his granddaughter, Jennifer M. "Jennie" Hamilton; and his brother, Robert Hamilton.

A Visitation for Herbert G. Hamilton will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Rees Funeral Home – Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart. A Veterans of Foreign War Service will be offered at 5:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Memorials in Herb's memory may be made to the Hobart Park Department for a memorial brick.
