OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, AUGUST 31, 2011:

John Lynden Whistler, 70 years old, of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2011. John was born in Francesville, Indiana. He attended Hobart High School and in 1959 began a nine year career with the US Navy which took him all over the world. He received extensive training and certification in electronics engineering and sonar technology. John was granted Honorable Discharge and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. John made his home in Clarkston, MI and worked for the Budd Company, Oakland County Michigan, and retired from Chrysler Corporation.

John is survived by his wife, Janice Jerrylynn (Greer) Whistler; sons: John Scott Whistler and David Lynden Whistler, grandchildren Robin and Matthew Whistler; and many friends and family members who will miss him greatly.
