Albert Floyd Harrigan - Class Of 1948

OBITUARY FROM POST-TRIBUNE, OCTOBER 20, 2006:

ALBERT FLOYD HARRIGAN "Pete" Hobart, Indiana Age 77, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2006. He was Baptized and a member of Hobart Methodist Church. A graduate of Hobart High School, Class of 1948, he attended Florida State University. "Pete" was the owner/operator of Harrigan Realty in Hobart, Valparaiso and Michigan City. He organized and was the first president of the Board of Realtors in Hobart. He was a member and president of the Chamber of Commerce, a charter member of Phi Delts, a member of the Hobart Rotary, the Jaycees, he coached Little League and he was instrumental in the organization of Ho Hive. Pete served on the school board and was a Councilman. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served as an MP and a member of the Howling Mad Detachment. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54. He served as a policeman in Hobart for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Goldina Harrigan, his brother, Richard Harrigan, and brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Bradley. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia "Patty" Harrigan of Hobart; children, Debra (Ron) Schwuchow, Stacee (Don) Harrigan & Jason (Michelle) Harrigan; grandchildren Andrew (Stephanie) Schwuchow, John (Holly) Schwuchow, Michael Schwuchow & Peter Harrigan; great grandchild, Christopher Schwuchow; brother, Donal Harrigan; sister, Mary Jane Bradley, both of Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 701 E. 7th Street, Hobart, IN, Rev. Jonathan Gosser officiating. Cremation by the Burns Funeral Home Crematory will precede the memorial service. Friends may meet with the family on Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (time of service). In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 12 Wall St., 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005.
