George Tatalovich - Class Of 1942

OBITUARY FROM NW INDIANA TIMES, APRIL 15, 2014:

George Tatalovich, age 89, a lifelong Gary resident, passed away Sunday April 13, 2014 with his loving family by his side. Over his lifetime, George was a known entrepreneur in Northwest Indiana. He was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. In 1942, George graduated from Hobart High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in United States Coast Guard and received an honorable discharge after his service. Many will remember that he was a member of the Tamburitza Orchestra "ZORA" of Gary. Throughout his entire life, George was an avid gardener and was a dedicated wood worker.

His parents, Sava and Sara Tatalovich, preceded him in death, along with his sister Violet Schematz. George is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Grace; beloved children: George Tatalovich, Don (Cindy) Tatalovich, Diane (Tom) Cooper, and Judy (Eric) Bleicher; 13 grandchildren: Steven, Michael, Don, Daniel, Angela, Kim, Krystal, Kai, Kelly, Eric, Jr., Lisa, Danielle, David and their families; nine great grandchildren; sisters: Mary Magurean, Millie (Clyde) Griggs and many other Kumovi; other relatives and dear family - friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM directly at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville with V. Rev Marko Matic officiating. Interment Calumet Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 PM at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point with a Pomen Service at 5:00 PM. George's kindness, wit, and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all of his survivors.
