GROOM, Doris R., May 19, 1928 - September 22, 2009. Doris was born in Hobart, Indiana to Joseph A. Beerbower and B. Bernice Frisinger. She married Leo C. Groom on May 20, 1949. They settled in Arizona in 1962 with their two young children. Doris was Director of Development for Public Broadcasting at the University of Arizona for several years until her retirement earning the recognition and admiration of all who worked with her for a job superbly done. Doris loved the desert and wished it to be preserved. She belonged to a number of organizations that work towards that end. Doris was a loving wife and mother. She will be missed by her many friends and family.

Doris was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, Leo; daughter, Fawn Groom and sister, Daphne Gant. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey L. Groom; brother, Joe Beerbower and his wife, Emily Beerbower of Madison, Connecticut; brother-in-law, Emery Gant of Hebron, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Viscount Hotel. Please RSVP at 322-9427. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.
