Robert Palmer - Class Of 1950

OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM MESSINGER MORTUARY (SCOTTSDALE, AZ) WEBSITE:

Robert C. Palmer, 82 passed away peacefully with his family at his side on April 10, 2014. Born October 20, 1931 in Gary, Indiana, Bob was raised in Hobart, Indiana, where he met and married Norma, his high-school sweetheart, in 1950. He went to work for J.C. Penney in 1955, where as a store manager their growing family lived in several midwestern states. In 1970, he moved his family to Scottsdale, working as manager for Smitty's Department Stores. In 1975 he opened Palmer's Place Bath Boutique on 1st Avenue in Old Town Scottsdale. He was on the cutting edge of what would become a specialty market in high-end bathroom accessories. Bob was an active member of the Elk's Lodge 2148 for the last several decades, serving in various official offices and always there to help "run the show." His passion for life was easy to see in everything he did from bowling, golfing and spectator sports. Most of all, his love was evident in the way he cherished his wife and family.

He is survived by his wife Norma, five children: Dean (Patti), Dione, Doug (Diane), Don and Devawn (Rob) Oberlender, two granddaughters Sara (Tom) Holmes and Olivia. He also leaves two great grandsons Hendrix and Herschel Holmes - the latter of whom he got to hold just as he was born last year. Bob will be dearly missed by his extended family, especially his niece Paula and husband Jay Kuckuck, Stacy (Greg) Hamilton and Karen (Neal) Kerr.

Services: Funeral service will be Monday, April 14th at 2PM at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Rd., Scottsdale with reception to follow at the Elk's Lodge #2148,6398 E Oak St. Scottsdale, AZ 85257.
