Robert (Bob) Nanney - Class Of 1982

OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

Robert “Bob” J. Nanney Jr, age 59, of Portage passed away March 19, 2024. He was born on July 30, 1964, in Hammond, IN to the late Robert and Connie Nanney. 

Robert was married to his loving wife Wanda Nanney for 19 years. He would always call his wife “sweetheart” even when he was upset. He proudly served in the United States Army and was 2nd Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 260. Robert was a strong, proud man with a kind heart. He had a beautiful singing voice and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed smoking meat, grilling, playing video games, and bowling. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, playing guitar, painting, golfing, and riding his motorcycle. Robert will be remembered as a loving husband and an amazing father. 

He is survived by his loving wife Wanda Nanney; his children, Brooke Elzinga, Stefanie (Erik) Del Valle, and Brandon Elzinga; his brother, David Nanney; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Michael) Rich; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

He is preceded by his parents Robert and Connie Nanney.

A celebration of life for Robert will take place on March 30, 2024, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at American Legion Post 260, 5675 Mulberry Avenue Portage, Indiana 46368.
