Marion “Marlin” Gauder, age 88, of Hobart passed away Wednesday April 8, 2015. She was born on May 9, 1926 in Wheeler, Indiana to the late Peter and Ada Pope. She loved being a School Teacher at Foreman/Joan Martin Elementary School, retiring in 1995 with many fond memories of her students. Marlin was a longtime Hobart resident and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart.

She is survived by one son, John “Jay” Gauder III (TJ Spencer) of Kirkland, WA; one daughter, Nancy L. Gauder of Indianapolis, IN; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Gauder of Valparaiso, IN; 4 sisters-in-law Shirley Pope, Pauline Augustian, Susan Bailey and Beth (Al) Kunneman; 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the wonderful people who cared daily for her and John and to Marcia McCord Ruess and family for the love and joy they added to their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gauder, Jr. and one son, Kurt Gauder. Memorial contributions in Marlin’s name may be made to the Hobart Education Foundation, 32 East 7th Street, Hobart, IN 46342 or Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, IN 46342.

Funeral services for Marlin are Monday, April 13, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
