Eileen Berg, (nee Smythe) 85 of Hobart, passed away on March 13, 2013. She was born on September 4, 1927 in Hobart, Indiana to David and Helen Smythe. On September 20, 1952, she married Sigvald Berg. They were married for 49 years until his death on April 28, 2002. Eileen was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family. 

She is survived by 2 sons: Robert (Susan) Berg and Sigvald D. (Lisa) Berg both of Hobart; one daughter: Kathryn (Mark) Pope of Hobart; 1 brother: David Smythe of Hobart; 8 grandchildren: Kristi Barnes, Eric Berg, Katie Berg, Carl Wegmet, Jodi King, Kara Soderquist, Megan Pope and Jamie Pope, 5 great grandchildren: Aron Berg, Jazmyn Barnes, Olivia Barnes, Dylan Wegmet and Andrew Soderquist and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 son Richard; 3 brothers William, Donovan and John Brown; and 3 sisters; Muriel "Etta" Brown-Henning, Patricia Smythe and Eleanor Smythe-Skomp.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Harbor Light Hopsice. A funeral service will be held for Eileen on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Jarrod Jenette officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.
