OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM DENISE'S COUSIN, GAIL SCHAVEY MYATT, CLASS OF 1969:
My cousin, Denise Council O'Neill passed away this morning [April 9, 2024] after battling cancer. She has lived in Minnesota for a number of years and raised her family there. She made trips back to Hobart often to visit with family and friends. We will miss her great smile and great sense of humor. No details on services are available.

Denise was always a "force" to be reckoned with and she is hopefully working on straigtening out things up in heaven a very humorous nice and very cute lady who was a joy to talk to. She will be missed.

The news was unwelcome. Parting with old friends and classmates is invariably painful. Mike Little remarked that Denise was a force of nature in high school and I would add that she was also liked and admired by her numerous friends and classmates. She will be missed by many. Here is a more complete obituary.

Denise and I lost touch with each other after high school, but I will always remember her great smile and sweet personality. She was always highly thought of and liked by everyone. She will be missed. RIP dear friend.

My sincere appreciation to Gail Schavey Myatt for posting this obituary and sincere condolences to all of Denise's family and friends. When you think back to your years in Hobart schools, Denise certainly made a positive, early impression on me.....4th grade at Liberty School to be exact. I showed up for school Day 1 wearing braces. Here comes Denise and sits down next to me. Oh, great, I am thinking. If I smile, I am sunk. Well I did smile, and she was encouraging, supportive, she said I looked fine. We became friends. By spring, she asked if I wanted to go steady. Two problems: I really didn't know what that meant, but I did know that a ring was involved. I told her I didn't have money for a ring. She said don't worry about it. I'll buy one and tell everyone you got it for me..........Bottom line: she was encouraging, fun, and a problem solver. She never lost those attributes through school. She was a good person. God Bless Denise Council O'Neill...My cousin, Denise Council
