Debbie Marie Carpenter, 67 of Hobart, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025.  She was born on November 17, 1957 in Gary, Indiana to the late Wayne and Theresa (Franko) Carpenter.  Debbie recently retired as a supervisor in the casino.  While raising her son, James, she was very involved in all his activities, especially Boy Scouts.  Debbie became a “second mom” to many of the kids in soccer, band, and Boy Scouts.  She was a talented artist and a Disney fanatic who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Debbie is survived by her son, James (Kelly) Carpenter; grandchildren, Grace and Andrew Carpenter; brother, Rick Carpenter; niece, Amy (Ryan); and nephews, Eric (Amanda) and Adam (Melissa).

A Memorial Gathering will be held on May 15, 2025 from 4:30-6:30 PM at Moeller Funeral Home 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with a Time of Sharing beginning at 6:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America, Pathway to Adventure Council (Chicagoland and NW Indiana).
