James (Jim) Fowble - Class Of 1966

OBITUARY FROM REES FUNERAL HOME WEBSITE:

James A. “Jim” Fowble, age 73 a lifetime Hobart resident passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021.  He was born in Gary, Indiana on July 6, 1948 to the late William and Marion Fowble.  Jim graduated from Hobart High School Class of 1966.  He served his country in Vietnam in the U.S Army.  Jim was the longtime owner and operator of Cressmoor Lanes in Hobart and very active in the bowling community.  He was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and the Hobart VFW Post 5365.  Jim’s biggest hobby was building and flying RC model airplanes. 

He is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Sue Fowble (nee Zickuhr) of Hobart, IN; son, David (Susan) Fowble of Hobart, IN; 2 grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Wineland, and Austin Ladd. 

He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Ray, and three brothers, William “Bill” Fowble, Robert Fowble, and Larry Fowble.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart.  Cremation will follow the services.  Visitation is Monday, December 13, 2021 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.

Jeff Frame (1966)

Jim was one of the good guys. We met at Liberty Grade School...Alpha seating in homerooms over the years would encourage conversation. In Junior High, we would walk to his house for lunch on 3rd Street on occasion. Jim set pins at the old Hobart Lanes, and a better bowler in Lake County would not be found. He was one of the good ones.....Sincere condolences to the family....Jeff Frame
