OBITUARY INFORMATION FROM COUNTRYSIDE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY (STREAMWOOD, IL) WEBSITE:

Kerry Heitkotter
January 8, 1964 - February 20, 2024

Kerry Heitkotter, nee Owen, 60, formerly of Hobart, Indiana and for the last three+ decades of Schaumburg; wife of Kurt; mom of Benjamin (Rosie) Heitkotter, Dr. Heather (Dr. Alex Helfand) Heitkotter-Helfand and Hannah (Jacob) Heitkotter-Krugman; grandma of Haisley; sister of Michael Owen, Scott (Kristen) Owen, 1/2 sister of Marcie Beckham and the late James Owen; daughter of Mary and Stanley Wood; best friend of the late Mary Veltri; like a 2nd mom of Mary's daughters Nicole (Jared) Skiba and their daughter June and Nicole's sister Stephanie (Patrick Anderson) Veltri-Anderson; and like a 2nd mom to neighbors Tina Babiarz, her son Lincoln, and Cassie (Rob) Babiarz Moll, along with her son Grayson.

Kerry lived her life in service to others. She chose to serve her country through her time in the Army, afterwards dedicating herself to improving the lives and health of others through her work. Kerry was a kind, loving, and attentive mother constantly prioritizing the needs of her family. Supporting and nurturing her partner and her children was what she did best. For her children, she was always supportive of the silliest of endeavors, made sure to provide the best snacks, and listened to every concern and excited rambling, no matter how big or small. She made you feel like she could solve any problem you came to her with, and she often did. If you needed something, she always made sure you had the best she could possibly provide.

Kerry’s kindness extended beyond her family. Friends of her kids became adoptive kids of her own, and she provided them everything she could to ensure they experienced the same fun, happiness, and support as her own children. She involved herself in things that would make the lives of others better, including volunteering in school organizations and events. Those who interacted with her through her work felt heard and helped, their lives improved by her compassion, support, and guidance.

Anyone who knew Kerry would agree she was strong-willed, driven unwaveringly by her own moral compass and personal convictions. She lived by what she believed was right, and strived to be the best she could for everyone around her while simultaneously helping them be the best they could as well. She had a magnetic personality- witty, funny, and always positive, the kind of person you wanted to be around. Kerry was highly motivated to make her own and other’s dreams come true. She was continuously moving forward, choosing to be positive through any situation, and uplifting others with her.

Above all else, Kerry was selfless, helping others until she was no longer able. Her love and generosity were truly bottomless.

A celebration of Kerry's life will be private at the Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory 1640 S. Greenmeadows Blvd. (at Barrington Rd.) Streamwood, IL. 60107
